What is the purpose of this Gold badge indicating ‘-75% low in sulphate’, on our Saumur Rouge ‘Les Marches de Marion’ 2018 cuvée?
The Cofrac Certificate is a badge designed to assure consumers concerned about the sulphate content in wine. This LOW SULPHATE branding is for reasoned use of sulphate ensuring a lower content in relation to the legislation in force, while obviously avoiding the risk of a drop in quality of the organoleptic tasting.
The total So2 (free + combined) in other words 'sulphate', is regulated in maximum mg/L dose authorized in the wine. The maximum total So2 rate in mg/L authorized is 150 mg/L for conventional red wines and 100 mg/L for red wines in organic cultivation.
The Saumur Rouge cuvée ‘Les Marches de Marion’ 2018 is dosed at 28 mg/L in total So2!
