After Aprils late frosts which destroyed nearly 80% of certain productions (chenin blanc), last week’s tornado which tore through Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil devastating the church steeple in its path, thankfully nobody was injured, and the heavy hail stones which have hit and destroyed vines outside of Saumur. It’s been absolutely devastating, and still more turbulent weather is forecast to come!! Our thoughts are with those touched by the brutal elements of this year.
